Intern - Risk Management

The Programme

As an international financial services provider, Allianz offers over 86 million customers worldwide products and solutions in insurance and asset management. The Regional Risk Management team acts as an extended arm to the Allianz Group headquarters based in Munich, and is responsible for entities across Northern/South and South East Asia.

In fulfilling its role, the Regional Risk Management team supports the entities in the region and provides oversight on their activities. For operational risk management, local Risk teams utilize the Group IT solution “ORGS” (hosted by IBM) where all related activities are recorded.

To ensure full compliance with Group requirements, a holistic analysis and review of the data is necessary, and effective tools must be implemented (e.g., dashboards for reporting to executive management). The ORGS data is also utilized for regular updates to the Regional Governance & Control Committee and the Regional Risk Committee where automation will significantly improve efficiency.

We are currently looking for a candidate specialized in data analytics to solve a variety of practical challenges related to operational risk management and the Group IT solution ORGS. Facilitation related to the Regional Risk Committee will also be part of the assignment and sharing insights via the Allianz Intranet (AZ Connect).

The shortlisted candidate will assist the Regional Risk Management team in clearly prescribed objectives with measurable results.

What You Will Do

Operational risk management reporting & analysis – documentation and automations. This includes analysis of the Group Risk ORGS tool considering risks, controls, risk indicators, issues/actions and operational risk loss events.

  • Based on the data analysis, create meaningful dashboards for lead executive reporting focusing on risk and control object in ORGS; dashboards shall be sufficiently flexible to show entity specific as well as regional (i.e., aggregated data).
  • In course of the analysis, identify shortcomings in ORGS documentation, and build a “review algorithm/macro”, which can be used quarterly to check data quality.
  • Develop a reporting tool to analyze operational risk loss events on a quarterly basis; again, with flexibility to show entity specific and regional results.
  • Documentation (Word or PPT) of the tools, how to update and maintain.
  • Present the developed tools and dashboards in the monthly Community Call of regional risk managers and/or at the quarterly Regional CRO Conference.
  • Top Risk Assessment reporting & analysis enhancement – automation of reports related to the Regional Risk Committee to facilitate the quarterly update.
  • Automatize the Key Risk Indicator Cockpit and related indicators, which are prepared and discussed on a quarterly basis in the Regional Risk Committee.
  • Setting up Allianz Connect (Intranet) to share best practices within the Asia Pacific Risk community.
