Graduate Engineer - Product Integration

The Programme

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the successful incumbent will drive the integration of new products into manufacturing to meet growing market demand, with special focus on improving the success of tool, prototype and production trials. The applicant should be strong in communication and problem-solving skills and have excellent attention to detail.

What You Will Do

  • With the help of the Technical Manager, steer the Product Integration cross-functional team to ensure timely trial and release of new products
  • Plan and report on projects, meet project milestones, prioritise, schedule project tasks, anticipate obstacles and manage risk
  • Ensure NPI checklists are completed to ensure accuracy of product, process, tool and equipment designs to mitigate integration risk
  • Aim for 100% FTT (first time through) of trials and ensure rapid resolution of problems during the product integration phases
  • Prepare and maintain the New Product Introduction release schedule based on agreed priorities
  • Expedite PPAP and APQP tasks to ensure on-time release
  • Find innovative solutions to accelerate time to market and record progress
  • Give input to the lessons learned database and feed these into Design Guides, DFMEAs and PFMEAs
  • Manage the landscape of problem assistance required in production areas and ensure timely resolution
  • Prepare reports and presentations relating to product integration and new product introduction

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Tertiary technical qualification (minimum BSc Mechanical Engineering or equivalent)
  • Experience or vacation work in a manufacturing environment is beneficial – especially aeronautical or automotive. Exposure to tool-making and process equipment will support the application
  • The position would suit a confident, assertive individual who works with a sense of urgency
  • Must be able to interpret engineering drawings and have good written and oral communication skills to interact with all levels of the organisation
  • A high level of computer literacy (CAD, product design, Excel, PowerPoint) and a good understanding of automotive quality systems will be a distinct advantage
