One of them involves the management of procurement cost efficiency projects across the globe; with frequent analysis for spend on procurement global. The operational analysis work of global procurement spend has provided me with insights to the inner workings of the company, and challenged me with the opportunity to improve the existing process. In addition, my involvement in tender projects within the procurement department has also afforded me the opportunity to analyse bids and create value for the company. Beyond work, the program has also allowed me to attend courses to upgrade skillets. The numerous social events to celebrate accomplishments have allowed the company to be more than just a place for work.

  • Orica Graduate Program Year 2: Mining Chemicals, Melbourne, VIC

Melanie

My first year on the Orica Global Graduate Program was with the South East Region Supply Chain team, based in Newcastle. My team was in charge of planning and scheduling the bulk product requirement for our operational sites. My role was to analyse and report metrics to key stakeholders. It also saw me visit both manufacturing and operational sites, which allowed me to gain exposure to Orica’s end to end supply chain. As a graduate I was given the opportunity to learn about various disciplines within the supply chain.

I have moved to Melbourne for my second year of the program and I am a part of the Mining Chemicals distribution team. This team focuses on the domestic and global movements of Cyanide. My role this year includes managing and controlling distribution activities in an efficient, safe and effective manner, the implementation of specific process improvement initiatives and the identification and implementation of productivity initiatives.

My rotations on the program have offered me many opportunities to develop professionally. In addition to the development I receive from my everyday role, the graduate program offers professional development workshops which have grown my skills and allowed me to network with others grads on the program and Orica senior leaders. The annual rotations have given me exposure to the different roles available within the supply chain, in addition to showing me different team dynamics. The Orica Global Graduate Program has been the ideal introduction to my professional career.
