Field Service Engineering Trainee
The Programme
Roche Diagnostics in Durban is offering the opportunity for a candidate with a completed National Diploma, BTech or Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical to gain experience in working as a Trainee Field Service Engineer on an 18 month contract.
The role would involve learning about the field and in time to start carrying out diagnostic instrument post-sales technical support activities including but not limited to: Installation, de-installation, routine maintenance, emergency repair visits, modification and upgrades in accordance with manufacturer specification/governing guidelines/department objectives & Key Performance Indicators, policies or procedures.
Note that we would not be able to provide in-service/practical training and that we are seeking candidates who have a completed qualification.
Candidates must note that should they be successful they would be required to obtain their driver's license within 3 months of joining.
What You Will Do
- Completing relevant administration within set timelines to effect T & E cost centre activities including Electronic Field (Case) Service Reporting; expense reporting & boot/car stock (spare parts) reconciliation against the monthly report.
- Adherence to Client Service Level agreement deliverables & department planning and activities roster (including timelines) & supporting business areas with relevant instrument knowledge and specifications & providing cross-team technical assistance and support.
- Prior to scheduled visits, plan for required boot/car stock (materials and equipment) and complete relevant warehouse requisition documentation timeously.
- Ensure adherence to relevant instrument’s manufacturing standards for maintenance, installation and upgrading plans according to customer needs.
- Addressing any challenges within scope of authority and within relevant customer service level agreements, department policy and budgetary guidelines.
- Escalating complex instrument technical queries, challenges or software and hardware upgrades to relevant personnel in accordance with procedures for swift resolution.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Required Qualification: A completed National Diploma, BTech or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification (NQF level 6 upwards).
- Additional Requirements: Candidates must be in possession of a valid passport and would be required to obtain a driver's license within 3 months of joining the company.
